About Therapy with Me
Depression is not always easy to overcome.
As a therapist, I have made it my mission to help you find relief from treatment-resistant depression, so you can live the life that you want to live.
Having worked with thousands of patients over the past several decades, I realize that many people do not know what their bodies need to respond to the treatment they are receiving for depression.
Sometimes, more medication may not be what you need. A different approach might be what you need. You know you were meant to live for more and want medication and non-medication approaches for your care. That’s what I offer.
Lasting change happens when we consider all parts of ourselves. We must employ our mind, body, and spirit as change agents.
Yet, we often disconnect.
We lose our ability to listen to our bodies, quiet our minds, and shift our thoughts. When we work together, we reconnect our minds and bodies to help you make lasting change.
If you are ready to make changes, I am all in. You don’t need to have the words that match your experience or the ability to identify precisely what is going on in your life. You also do not need to be in a specific place to start your work.
It is time to reach out if you are motivated, ready to push your limits, and want to elevate your life.

About Dr. Sarah Gatumu

Hi.
I’m a wife, a mother to three amazing young adults, a lover of nature and travel, a sister, and a daughter who was deeply loved by her earthly father. My life’s journey has been shaped by faith – I became a Christian at 14, and ever since, I’ve believed that I am walking the path God designed for me. My purpose is to bring hope and freedom to women who have been living under the weight of depression for weeks, months, or even years.
My love for medicine began in my own home. As a child, I watched my father struggle with asthma attacks – frightening moments for me, but also moments when I saw the healing power of compassionate medical care. That experience planted the seed for my desire to help others in the same way those doctors helped my dad.
I earned my medical degree from the University of Nairobi in Kenya, where I discovered that my heart came alive when I was working with patients facing mental health challenges. Later, in the U.S., I earned my MPH from Johns Hopkins University and completed my psychiatry residency at Western Psychiatric Institute, followed by a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. I’ve now been practicing psychiatry for more than 20 years.
Over the years, I’ve seen how much our medical culture focuses on medication – often without fully exploring non-medication tools that can be just as life-changing. My mission is to help people, especially those with treatment-resistant depression, discover the relief they’ve been searching for. Sometimes, the answer isn’t “more medication” – it’s an entirely different approach.
I believe lasting change happens when we bring together the mind, body, nutrition, and spirit. Too often, we disconnect from ourselves – we stop listening to our bodies, we quiet our inner voice, or we get stuck in thoughts that keep us from moving forward. My role is to help you reconnect, so you can create lasting change and live the life you were meant to live.
If you are motivated, ready to push your limits, and open to new possibilities for your healing, I’m here – and I’m all in.
